For this series, I was inspired by chameleons’ camouflaging skill, in which they change colors not only to camouflage, way of protection, but to communicate with others as well. This led me to think about the ways we respond in a societal setting. People want to blend into a certain group of people or community to not feel alone and feel belonged to the majority. Honestly, no one wants to be alone, but there are always people who stand out more and get excluded due to certain qualities or "uniqueness." In this case, the polka-dotted character is the “unique” one, who gets excluded.

For this project, I want to express the idea of accepting ourselves, our imperfections and sometimes letting ourselves be free from our boundaries. The boundaries are illustrated as a black liquid that suffocates us from time to time but we have to disregard those limitations and be our true selves. For many people, childhood often affects them the most to adulthood. In this case, the ballon stands for something that I love to play with when I was a kid. It’s also because of the things that I encountered and experienced in childhood that led to my hoping for perfection in everything, which is tiring and impossible.
