Social Studies
Grades 3-6 Projects
Each semester, students must complete one social studies project. You may choose from the projects listed on the grade level project guides below or choose to design your own projects. Please note that each project should show at least 3-4 weeks of content learning. Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions about project work or project options. You do not have to choose one of the projects below. While it is important that students are participating in grade level social studies instruction on a regular basis this year, the two required projects are the only work that your child needs to submit this year for assessment.
You are not limited to using only one curriculum source to complete these projects. We encourage you to use a variety of resources, texts, and materials. Students will show evidence of understanding through the projects and turn in project evidence and a Project Summary Document to the teacher through the posted assignment in Google Classroom each semester.
For project evidence, you must submit:
Project Summary Document (editable copy attached to Google Classroom assignment)
Project work, pictures, or videos of the project demonstrating 3-4 weeks of content learning
NOTE: Students have the option of using a quarterly writing assignment as their semester project if it is tied to content learning. For example, an informational essay written about WWII could be submitted as a quarterly writing assignment and a semester social studies project. The Project Summary Document will need to be submitted as well.
