Trash into Art: Marble Madness
This session focuses on the 21st Century Skills as teachers collaborate within small groups by means to excite and challenge them to create a marble game out of recycled objects that can be played by other groups. We will briefly discuss the negative impacts trash has on our ecosystem, but more importantly learn hands-on, how we can make recycling meaningful and fun!

Wandering Weavings
Join this session to learn about the many ways weaving can be used in your classroom. During this session you will see examples of various student weaving projects ranging from paper weavings to three dimensional sculptural pieces. Each attendee will also create their own weaving on a cardboard loom. (All materials provided at the workshop!)

Grid Method
Lisa can teach you tricks and simple ways to create larger than life pieces of art using the grid method. The grid method is an easy and effective way to transfer and or enlarge your art. This is a hands on drawing and painting class (dress accordingly) where you paint your own masterpiece.

City Construction and Design
Makers will create a city block and then work together to arrange the city blocks into a city. Blending creative development, design, paper cutting and construction, participants will travel from consideration of their own concept of City to a collective construction.

Participants will create a scroll to present their colored pencil drawing study of the quiet beauty of the orchid form. They will examine the beauty in nature and the process of mindfulness in creating. (fingers crossed orchid donation comes through for our artists)

Printmaking as Creative Expression
This session focuses on teaching participants the techniques necessary to introduce printmaking into the classroom. After looking at various printmaking artists the participants will work in small groups to create their own relief prints and will be able to print multiple copies of their image, time permitting. (All materials provided at the workshop!)

Passion for Pattern
This workshop will incorporate an understanding of the role pattern and texture play in a work of art. Gustav Klimt is the inspiration for applying the artistic processes and skills using the techniques of mixed media collage to communicate the meaning and intent of the art project. This technique can be used at all grade levels with an explanation of how that works.

Making Photographic Magic Through Science
In this workshop, learn to create super cool photographic effects using simple techniques and properties of light. We will use photography to demonstrate principals of light and exposure through refraction, reflection, and the basic mechanics of a camera. We will explore angles and composition as a means to demonstrate physical phenomena. This workshop will give something to both the novice and the experienced student of photography.

Technology and Art intersect! Google Apps for creating art.
Find the place where technology and art intersect! In this session, we will look at several Google apps that work extremely well for creating art. This is a hands-on session, so bring a computer. You will learn to create pictures using Google Draw and Sheets. Play with concepts like shadow, shading and perspective. Activities can be used in ALL subject areas. You will walk out with activities that you can do tomorrow in class, as long as your students’ access to computers.

Hip Hop Mindset
Movement and Expression through Dance
Children move naturally. They move to express a thought or feeling, and they move because it feels wonderful. Dance is a natural method for learning and a basic form of expression. Dance helps children mature physically, emotionally, socially, and cognitively. With Hip Hop Mindset we aim to motivate and inspire the youth in our community through music and dance. Each class consists of 5/10 minutes of stretching and warming up. A dance routine is then taught to the class by the instructor. The class will go over the routine several times before being split up into groups and performing the routine. Get a workout all while having fun in this energy filled class!

Chumash Rock Painting
The goal of this workshop is provide an awareness and appreciation of Chumash art heritage and culture. The Chumash thrived and prospered along the California coast, island and back country for centuries. The rock and cave paintings can be found in the coastal plains from Morro Bay to Malibu. You will learn about color, shape, pattern, texture and the fundamentals of design, as you create your own version of pictographs on textured substrates.
