Hold a Virtual Open House

Rickey Koga, a second grade teacher at Rio del Sol, walks parents through a Virtual Open House to explain the remote learning tools he will be using for the rest of the year.

Interview with Mr. Koga

What did you want to achieve?

I wanted to show parents, families and students the different Google Apps we would be using in class and demo them in real-time. I wanted parents to see how and why we use the apps, as well as how to get to them.

What tools did you use?

In the video I showed families Google Slides, Sites, Classroom and Meet. I met with them and recorded with Zoom (but am switching to Google Meet after this past session).

What surprised you?

Many students also attended the meeting with their parents, which was great because it was a refresher for them, and they could answer their parents questions.

Mr. Koga records two math lessons, a read-aloud and a visit to his backyard hummingbird nest. His distance learning video series is here.

Record a Video Lesson

Short video lessons are great for students and families to access when convenient. You might consider uploading your videos to Youtube and linking with your Google Classroom, Google Site, or send out via email or Class Dojo, Remind.
