The SSS Maternity Benefit is a cash allowance granted to female members who are unable to work due to childbirth or miscarriage. The benefit is advanced by the company and later reimbursed by SSS.
Eligible employees can receive the benefit for up to 105 calendar days for normal or cesarean delivery; 120 calendar days for solo parents (RA 8972); and 60 calendar days for miscarriage or emergency termination of pregnancy.
This page will walk you through the process of filing your SSS maternity benefit - from pregnancy notification to benefit payout.
You must be an active SSS member with at least 3 monthly contributions in the 12-month period before the semester of childbirth or miscarriage.
Applies to all female employees, regardless of employment status or civil status
The benefit is granted for every pregnancy, miscarriage, or emergency termination, regardless of frequency.
105 calendar days for live childbirth (normal or C-section)
Additional 15 calendar days for qualified solo parents
60 calendar days for miscarriage or emergency termination
An optional 30 calendar day extension (without pay) is available for live childbirth, with written notice at least 45 days before the end of maternity leave
You will receive full pay during your maternity leave
The company will advance the full amount and pay the salary differential between your SSS benefit and regular salary
You remain eligible to receive your 13th month pay, SL/VL accrual, and tenure protection during maternity leave
You may transfer up to 7 days of your maternity leave to the child's father (whether married or not)
In the absence or incapacity of the father, this may be transferred to a qualified relative or live-in partner
Submit an SSS Allocation of Maternity Leave Credits Form for approval
Leave is counted in calendar days and must be taken continuously (including rest days and holidays).
It can be split between prenatal and postnatal leave, but at least 60 days must be postnatal (based on the expected delivery date).
You must complete your full maternity leave before returning to work, as required by DOLE.
Must be submitted within 60 days from date of conception:
Allocation of Maternity Leave Credits (if sharing with partner)
Original Ultrasound + Reading and Medical Certificate
ATD (Authority to Deduct)
Copy of 2 valid ids with 3 specimen signatures
SSS contribution summary
EMLL Form (for 30-day extension, if applicable)
Letter of Explanation (for late filing)
Notify Total Rewards of your pregnancy within 60 days of conception (for tracking purposes)
Submit all required documents via JIRA:
| Acquire Intellihub > Employee Services > Compensation & Benefits > Benefits
Acquire C&B will notify SSS online and process the maternity benefit
Funds are credited to your payroll account approximately 1 month befor EDD
Inform Total Rewards and Acquire C&B of any changes in EDD or start date of maternity leave
File your maternity leave in MyPay (will reflect as LWOP)
Log in to MyPay via Acquire Intellihub
Go to: Filing > Leave Filing > New
File under Maternity Leave and save the entry
Leave will reflect as LWOP (leave without pay)
Leave request goes through the regular approval matrix
To be submitted after returning to work, varies by case:
Normal Delivery
LCR-registered Birth/Death Certificate + OR/AR
PSA Birth Certificate + OR/AR
Cesarean Delivery
All of the above (as with normal delivery), plus:
Operative Record or ORR
Clinical Abstract / Discharge Summary
Miscarriage or Ectopic Pregnancy
Additional requirements for Complete Miscarriage:
Ultrasound Report indicating proof of pregnancy
Pregnancy Test before and after miscarriage
Medical Certificate issued by attending physician
Additional requirements for Incomplete Miscarriage:
Certified True Copy of Dilation & C Report
Certified True Copy of Histopath/Biopsy Report
Pregnancy Test before and after miscarriage
Ultrasound Report indicating proof of pregnancy.
Additional requirements for Ectopic Pregnancy
Certified true copy of Hospital/Medical Records
Certified true copy of ORR
Certified True Copy of Histopathological Report
Pregnancy Test before and after miscarriage
Submit reimbursement documents via JIRA to Acquire C&B upon return to work
Acquire C&B files with SSS
SSS sends a notification to your registered email
Confirm the benefit via your My.SSS account within 5 days
If not acknowledged, the amount may be deducted from your next payroll
