Permalink
Der Permalink verknüpft den aktuellen Kartenzustand mit Bereichs-, Zoom-, Ebenen- und Markierungsauswahl. Wenn Sie mit der rechten Maustaste darauf klicken und den Linkort kopieren, haben Sie die Möglichkeit, einen Link zu Ihrer Kartenposition an eine andere Person zu senden.
✘ Jeder Ort hat in seinem Popup einen eigenen spezifischen Permalink.
The permalink links the current map state including area, zoom, layer and marker selection. Right-Clicking it with the mouse und copying the link location gives you the possibility to send a link to your very map position to someone else.
Legende und Infos
Öffnet die Legende der auf der Karte angezeigten historischen Objekte.
Opens up the legend of historical objects displayed on the map.
GRSL-Search
Verwenden Sie die Tabelle GRSL · Search. In Spalte G "Historic.Place · GRSL" ist ein Link, mit dem Sie zum Popup wechseln können.

Layer Changer · Kartenebene
Das + auf grauem Hintergrund ist vielleicht das wichtigste Control, da es das Menü der verfügbaren Layer und Controls öffnet.
Die Tasten + und - steuern die Deckkraft. Minus bedeutet mehr Transparenz, Plus bedeutet mehr Stärke (bessere Abdeckung der darunter liegenden Schichten).
The + on gray background is maybe the most important control as it opens up the menu of available layers and controls.
The + and - buttons control opacity. Minus means more transparent, Plus means more strong (better covers underlying layers).

Base map · Grundkarte
Die Basiskarte ist der Hintergrundkartenstil, sie entspricht standardmäßig dem klassischen OpenStreetmap Mapnik-Stil. Wählen Sie nach Belieben. Es kann jeweils nur eine Basiskarte ausgewählt werden
Historical maps · Historische Karten
Immer mehr historische Karten stehen als Overlays zur Verfügung. Die angezeigten Karten sind abhängig vom aktuellen Kartenbereich. Im Ebenenwechsler werden nur historische Layer angezeigt, die im aktuellen Kartenbereich sichtbar sind. Der Link "Übersichtskarte der historischen Karten" öffnet ein neues Fenster mit allen verfügbaren historischen Karten in einer grafischen Darstellung.
Controls · Steuerelemente
Es werden einige zusätzliche Bedienelemente angeboten, die ein- und ausgeschaltet werden können.
Names in the tooltip: Wenn aktiviert, werden historische Objekte nicht nur durch ein Symbol, sondern auch durch ihren jeweiligen Namen dargestellt.
Messwerkzeug [F9]: Das Messwerkzeug ermöglicht es, die Länge eines Pfades zu bestimmen, der durch Anklicken in der Karte erstellt werden kann. Es kann auch durch Anklicken der Taste F9 aktiviert werden.
Overlays
Overview zeigt bis Zoom 10 eine regional komprimierte Anzahl der gelisteten Orte.
Ab Zoom 11 werden die Orte an der Geo-Position mit einem Symbol angezeigt.
Base map
The base map is the background map style, it defaults to the classic OpenStreetmap Mapnik style. Select to your convenience. Only one base map can be selected at a time.
Historical maps
An increasing number of historical maps is available as overlays. The maps shown depend on the curent map area. Only historical layers that are visible in the current map area are shown in the layer changer. The link "Overview map of historical maps" opens up a new window with all historical maps available in a graphical representation.
Controls
Some additional controls are offered that may be switched on or off.
Names in the tooltip: If activated, historical objects are not only shown by symbol but also by their respective names.
Overlays
Overview shows up to zoom 10 a regionally compressed number of the listed locations.
Starting with zoom 11, the locations at the geo-position are displayed with an symbol.
Scale · Maßstab
Zeigt den Kartenmaßstab in Kilometern (km) und Meilen (mi) an.
Shows the map scale in kilometers (km) and miles (mi).
Suche | Search
Geben Sie den gesuchten Standort ein und drücken Sie die Taste "Enter". Sie sehen eine Ergebnisliste, aus der Sie mit der Maus auswählen können. Zur Vereinfachung gibt es die Möglichkeit, die Ergebnisliste offen zu halten (wählen Sie 'Keep open').
Enter the location you're searching for and hit the 'Enter' key. You see a result list where you can choose from with the mouse. For convenience there's the possibility to keep the result list open (select 'Keep open').
Zoom
Die Zoom-Steuerelemente ermöglichen die Auswahl der Zoomstufe. Klicken Sie auf + oder -, um ein- oder auszuzoomen. Alternativ können Sie auch das Mausrad verwenden.
Verschiedene Zoomstufen wechseln die Karte und die angezeigten Daten (Übersichten und Orts-Symbol).

The Zoom controls allows selecting the zoom level. Click on + or - to zoom in or out. Alternatively you may use the mouse wheel.
Different zoom levels change the map and the displayed data (overviews and location symbol).

Attribution
Die Attributionskontrolle gibt Urheberrechts-, Quellen- oder Höflichkeitsinformationen für Kartenebenen an. Sie wird im unteren linken Teil der Karte angezeigt und ist standardmäßig eingeschaltet.
The attribution control gives copyright, source or courtesy information for map layers. It is shown in the lower left part of the map and it's on by default.
Messwerkzeug [F9]
Das Messwerkzeug ermöglicht es, die Länge eines Pfades zu bestimmen, der durch Anklicken in der Karte erstellt werden kann. Es kann auch durch Anklicken der Taste F9 aktiviert werden. Die Länge ist im unteren linken Teil direkt über der Attribution dargestellt. Die ESC-Taste löscht den aktuellen Pfad. Ein Klick auf das Längeninfofeld öffnet ein kleines Tutorial und bietet auch die Möglichkeit, den Pfad in verschiedenen Formaten herunterzuladen. (Derzeit nur auf Deutsch).
Click on waypoint deletes it;
The active end of the way is marked red;
Click on start of way to change direction;
"Delete" deletes the red point;
"ESC" deletes the path;
"Pos1" rotates the way;
"TAB" zooms in on the way.
Measuring tool
The measuring tool allows to determine the length of a path that may be created by clicking in the map. It can also be activated through clicking F9 key. The length is shown in the lower left part just above the attribution. The ESC key clears the current path. Clicking on the length info field pops up a small tutorial and also offers the option to download the path in several formats. (Currently only in German).

Placemarks - Symbole
Ein Ort wird durch ein Symbol angezeigt ab einem Zoom 11. Jede Kolonie hat eine eigene Symbol-Farbe.
Für die jeweilige Bildschirmanzeige werden maximal 700 Objekte gleichzeitig geladen, um die Anwendung nicht zu träge zu machen. Die Begrenzung zeigt sich nur in Ostpreußen, dort sind sehr viele Objekte auf kleinem Raum. Empfehlung: Die Zoomstufe erhöhen.
A location is indicated by an symbol from a zoom 11. Each colony has its own symbol color.
A maximum of 700 objects can be loaded simultaneously for each screen display so as not to make the application too slow. The limitation is only visible in East Prussia, where there are many objects in a small space. Recommendation: Increase the zoom level.
Marker
Wenn Sie Alt oder Shift-Alt gedrückt halten und auf die Karte klicken, wird eine Markierung gesetzt. Der Marker kann mit der Maus verschoben werden. Wenn Sie Alt oder Shift-Alt gedrückt halten und erneut auf den Marker klicken, wird der Marker entfernt. Es können mehr als ein Marker gleichzeitig gesetzt werden. Marker sind im Permalink enthalten.
Holding Alt or Shift-Alt and clicking to the map sets a marker. The marker can be moved with the mouse. Holding Alt or Shift-Alt and clicking the marker again removes the marker. More than one marker can be set at the same time. Markers are included in the permalink.

Andere Kontrollen
Die Karte kann verschoben werden, indem man sie mit der Maus greift und bewegt. Das Mausrad wird zum Zoomen verwendet. Wenn Sie die Shift-Taste gedrückt halten und ein Rechteck mit der Maus zeichnen, wird ein Bereich zum Vergrößern ausgewählt (so gut wie möglich).
Other controls
The map may be panned by grabbing it with the mouse and moving. The mouse wheel is used for zooming. Holding the shift key and drawing a rectangle with the mouse selects an area to zoom in (as good as possible).
