25-26 Class Descriptions

For the 2025-2026 school year, I will be teaching both Contemporary World Issues (CWI) and AP U.S. History. A brief description of both classes is included below. If you have any specific questions about class topics, feel free to contact me.

Contemporary World Issues/Civics - SOC 300/301

Open to Grades: 12

Length of Class: Full Year

Class Periods:

Survey course that emphasizes the foundations of American Government with an overview of the legislative, executive and judicial branches of the federal government. Emphasizes American foreign policy and/or international issues facing Americans in the 21st century.

Prerequisite: None

Graduation requirement: Government; Credit: 1.0

AP U.S. History (SOC 203/204)

Open to Grades: 11

Length of Class: Full Year

Class Periods:

This course is designed to provide the analytical skills and factual knowledge necessary to deal critically with the problems and materials in United States history. Students prep for intermediate and advanced college courses by making demands upon them equivalent to those made by full-year introductory courses. Students are encouraged to take the AP exam in May.

Prerequisite: Passing grade in prior social studies course.

Graduation Requirement: U.S. History - Credit 1.0

Fee: $98.00, if taking the AP U.S. History Exam
