2023-2024 Class Descriptions

For the 2023-2024 school year I will be teaching both World History and Current World Issues (CWI)/Civics. A brief description of both classes is included below. If you have any specific questions about class topics, feel free to contact me. 

World History - SOC 101/102 

Open to Grades: 10

Length of Class: Full Year

Class Periods: 1 and 5

This class will focus on “true” world history looking at events in Europe, Latin America, Africa, Middle East & Asia from each of the time periods. Each of the 5 units will offer opportunities for students to grow their understanding of world history and provide them with a global perspective & help students develop social studies skills through inquiry-based tasks that engage students in the process of exploring compelling historical questions through the analysis of multiple sources & various types. 

Prerequisite: None; Graduation requirement: World History; Credit: 1.0

Current World Issues/Civics - SOC 300/301

Open to Grades: 12

Length of Class: Full Year 

Class Periods: 3, 4, 6

Survey course that emphasizes the foundations of American Government with an overview of the legislative, executive and judicial branches of the federal government. Emphasizes American foreign policy and/or international issues facing Americans in the 21st century. 

Prerequisite: None; Graduation requirement: Government; Credit: 1.0
