Thank you to all families for your patience as we begin the 2023-24 school year. Our routing is tremendously improved across the district, and we look forward to continued improved service as we continue to balance safety, reliability and efficiency that best serves the Ridgefield Community.
Students must arrive at their stop and be ready for pick up at least five minutes prior to the posted pick up time. The times posted in the Bus Routes Schedule are DEPARTURE times -- this is when the bus is scheduled to leave the stop. Students who arrive at the stop at the posted time will not have sufficient time to load onto the bus, so please plan to arrive five minutes earlier than the posted time. The bus cannot wait for students who are late to their stop so that the route doesn’t run behind schedule. If you are going to miss your posted stop time, proceed to the next stop on the route to drop off your student.
*NOTE: Liability for your child ends with respect to Ridgefield Public Schools and First Student Transportation as soon as your student exits the bus.
Grades K - 2 students must be released to an adult at the stop. For home stops, an adult must be visible at the drop off or entrance to the home. If a parent/guardian is not present at the time of drop off to release the elementary student, the student will remain on the bus, the school will contact the parent and the bus will continue to the next stop. The parent will be responsible for making special arrangements to pick up their student as soon as possible based on the bus route scheduled stops.
Elementary Students (grades 3-5) are not required to be met by a parent/guardian/caretaker at their drop off stop. These students will be dropped off at their designated stop and the driver will continue immediately with the remainder of the route. While this point of contact is not required for grades 3-5, it is strongly suggested that a parent/guardian/caretaker be present for pick up from the stop in the interest of safety for the student.
Secondary students (grades 6-12) are not required to be met by a parent/guardian/caretaker at their drop off stop. These students will be dropped off at their designated stop and the driver will continue immediately with the remainder of the route. While this point of contact is not required for secondary students, it is strongly suggested that a parent/guardian/caretaker be present for pick up from the stop in the interest of safety for the student.
