Q & A

What are the changes?

    • All grades 6 - 8 curricula have shifted to align with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Consequently, students get ALL domains of science (including Earth Science) in ALL three years of middle school in the Next Gen curriculum. Additionally, the manner in which science is taught will be very different - enabling students to truly discover and uncover concepts while building deeper understanding and stronger skills.

What's happening for the High School?

    • RHS will NOT be eliminating any courses and student access to advanced science courses will remain the same - or may occur sooner. Throughout next year the high school will be finalizing pathways and increasing science opportunities for all students.

Textbook

    • Students will interact with all domains of science (Physical, Life, and Earth and Space) each year. A class set of textbooks in each domain will be available for student use. However, since the shift is from a teacher-led, "learning about" model to a student led, "figuring out" classroom, the textbook will play a minimal role.
