Creative Action in Mrs.Kounnas' Art Room
Students at Scotland are learning about artistic traditions in Java and artistic traditions in many Mediterranean surrounding countries. While inquiring about the traditions of Java and many Asian and Middle Eastern countries, and watching videos of artists in action, students are inspired by Batik and Henna techniques to create the paper that will soon become leaves for a PTA hallway display.
At Farmingville, students read "A Little Scribble Spot" by Diane Alber and talked about how sometimes our emotions get tangled up inside. Each student created their own "Scribble Spot" using a variety of media including oil pastels, watercolors, tempera and markers. They will be displayed as a collaboration with the entire school upon completion!
