Need dance shoes, character shoes, dance clothing, etc.? Here are a couple of links where you can find them!
Walmart also carries Danskin and other activewear clothing lines - they have a great selection if you don't want to spend a lot on dancewear!
If you would like to visit a physical dance shop to be fitted for shoes, try on dancewear, etc., check out The Dance Shop located in Altoona, PA! They also have a Mobile Boutique - follow them on Facebook to see if the Mobile Boutique will be anywhere locally! I will try to spread the word if I see that it is coming near us!
Looking to buy gently used dance shoes instead of new? Check out Poshmark!
Shoes are required on the RPAC stage at all times.
I recommend jazz shoes as rehearsal shoes for both ladies and gentlemen. Depending on the style of the show, ladies may be asked to wear character shoes and men, dress shoes.
If the show we are performing includes tap, students may be asked to purchase their own tap shoes (either flat or heeled/character tap shoes). Students are not required to be in the tap number(s) if they are unable or do not wish to purchase tap shoes.
Recommended Jazz Shoes:
Capezio Adult "E-Series" Slip-On Jazz Shoes
(These shoes run small. Women - I recommend buying at least one whole size up from street shoe size; Men - I recommend buying at least two or three whole sizes up from street shoe size, as the sizes presented at time of ordering are women's sizes.)
Recommended Tap Shoes:
If you are serious about tap and want to invest in a high quality tap shoe, I highly recommend a full sole tap shoe for both support and sound. Split sole tap shoes are acceptable for our purposes, however, and typically come at a lower cost.
Bloch Dance Women's Tap-Flex Tap Shoe
(This shoe runs small - I recommend buying one half size up from street shoe size.)
The Bloch Tap-Flex shoe is my favorite split-sole tap shoe - it holds up extremely well over time and use and has a nice, clean sound. It's a very comfortable, high quality shoe that doesn't take much time to break in. This shoe falls in the middle of the price range for tap shoes.
*Bloch also offers this shoe specifically for Men, however it is at a more expensive price-point. Men can order the Women's version at 2 to 2.5 sizes larger than street size.
Capezio Women's Tap Jr. Footlight Tap Shoe
(This shoe runs small - I recommend buying one half size up from street shoe size.)
If the musical we are do requires a heeled tap shoe look for actresses, this is the one I would recommend! It is a 1.5 inch heel which is a great height for tap dancers who are learning to tap in heels. This shoe falls in the middle of the price range for tap shoes.
Recommended Character Shoes:
(Recommended by Capezio: Order 1/2 size up from street shoe size.)
These are a great mid-range character shoe.
(Reviews recommend ordering street size.)
(Reviews recommend ordering street size.)
Lower priced character shoe brands are available on Amazon and other discount dance websites (ex: Theatricals), however I recommend Bloch or Capezio for a better quality dance shoe that will hold up better than a bargain shoe.
Please note that attire expectations for rehearsals will be strictly enforced.

Fitted jazz pants or jazz capris
Opaque leggings - full length or capris
Athletic shorts of appropriate length
