The SOARing Summer Seven

Dear Current SOAR Scholars,
The SOAR Summer Seven a collection of 7 specific, low-stress, high-thought activities specifically designed to help you blur the lines between 'schoolwork' and your identity. We want to challenge the idea that intellectual depth only happens when a bell rings or a teacher assigns a grade. This summer is about realizing that learning isn't just something you do—it's who you are.
Listen, this is NOT summer work like you might think. I would bet most of you might do these things anyway during the summer. What you are being asked to do is make recorded observations and keep track of them however you want to or use what is convenient. Again, read the attachment in full and carefully for details.
✅ Expectations
#1 - Relax and enjoy the summer. These are very leisurely activities and with the exception of one activity, you might do these without any prompting at all.
#2 - Read carefully and check off each activity as you complete it. Don't be too 'mechanical' about working your way through the list. You do not have to begin with the first one for instance. Read the whole document so you are aware of what you have to do, and just begin wherever.
#3 - Keep track of your interests, thoughts, reflections, curiosities. Take notes however you want to! Video recordings, screenshots, audio messages, photos, paper & pencil, journal, app on your phone or tablet...multiple ways...it's your choice. Just be consistent by collecting "data" all summer long as you work through the list.
In August, we will launch your Enrichment Activities and TaSks Journal which is a requirement for SOAR Scholars beginning 2026-2027. Details are to come regarding the journal. However, your first journal entry will require that you use your data collected from completing the SOAR Summer Seven.
