Course Description: The AP Art History course is designed to provide the same instruction and benefits of an introductory college art history course to high school students. In the course students gather an understanding and knowledge of architecture, sculpture, painting, photography, and other art forms within diverse historical and cultural contexts. Students will connect artworks to specific cultures based on the social, political and economic aspects of the time period in which it was created. Students will also learn to view works of art with sensitivity, intelligence, and with a critical eye. Many colleges and universities offer advanced placement credit to students who have performed successfully on the AP Art History Examination.
