Welcome, Investigators! It's time to complete our library orientation!
All students must complete orientation before library books can travel home. Please be sure to treat your library books with respect while they are in your possession and send them back on your Media Center day.
If you are unsure which day to send library books back check out the calendar on our About page and look for your teacher. Kindergarten-2nd Grade students can check out one book at a time and 3rd-5th grade students can check out two books at a time.
Students can keep library books for one week, or until their next media center day. If you need more time to finish be sure to bring your book to the media center and renew it.
If your library book gets damaged, you will need to pay the fine OR replace it before you can check out another book. You can either pay the fine or buy the same book and send it to us.
The Richland County Public Library has partnered with Richland School District One and Richland School District Two to provide library cards to ALL students in those districts. The ConnectED Library Card Project is part of the nationwide Leaders Library Card Challenge, a federal program supported by IMLS and ULC and developed in 2015 by President Obama's administration. The program encourages public libraries to work with school districts and local government to make sure every student in their community has a library card to increase access to the library's valuable resources and services. As part of this challenge, the Richland Library is also committed to:
- supporting student learning through programming that develops their language, reading, and critical thinking;
- providing digital resources, such as eBooks and online collections of traditional media; and
- providing broadband connectivity and wireless access within library facilities.
Please call (803) 988-0891 for more information about the ConnectED Library Card Project.
