Chris Richardson serves as Colorado State Representative for House District 56, representing Cheyenne, Elbert, Kit Carson, and Lincoln Counties and rural portions of Adams, Arapahoe, and El Paso Counties. A 23-year Army veteran, former Elbert County Commissioner, and advocate for agriculture and rural communities, Richardson works to protect taxpayers, defend constitutional freedoms, improve public safety, strengthen rural healthcare, and ensure eastern Colorado has a strong voice at the State Capitol.

Friends and Neighbors,
It is an honor to represent the people of Colorado’s Eastern Plains in the State House. I went to the Capitol to defend individual liberty, protect taxpayers, support agriculture, strengthen public safety, and ensure rural communities are not forgotten in decisions made in Denver.
During my first two legislative sessions, I have helped pass practical legislation benefiting property owners, veterans, firefighters, rural health care providers, and families across Colorado. I have also stood firmly against efforts to weaken TABOR, restrict constitutional freedoms, and impose one-size-fits-all mandates on rural communities.
There is more work ahead. I remain committed to delivering principled, practical representation and leaving Colorado stronger for the next generation.
My commitment is simple: protect taxpayers, safeguard constitutional liberties, defend rural Colorado, and leave the next generation a stronger state than the one we inherited.

Colorado House District 56 includes productive farms and ranches, small towns, rural communities, and frontier towns. Agriculture remains central to the district’s economy, identity, and way of life. Its vast distances, close-knit communities, and independent spirit make House District 56 one of Colorado’s distinctly rural and geographically diverse legislative districts.
