About the Band

Reputation for Excellence

The Rich Township High School Band program has a reputation as one of the outstanding concert, marching, pep, and jazz bands in Illinois. Over the past 15 years the bands have earned hundreds of awards and honors.

In the 2019-2020 school year alone, the Mighty Marching Machine competed in and won the following:

• Chicago Football Classic - 1st Place/Grand Champions

• Metamora Marching Band Invitational - 2nd Place in Class / Best Auxiliary

• Oblong Marching Band Field Competition - Grand Champions/Best Auxiliary/Best Drum Majors

• Oblong Marching Band Parade Competition - Grand Champions/Best Auxiliary

In 2020, The Rich Township Pep Band, was selected to perform for the IHSA Boys Basketball State Championship in Peoria, IL.

The Concert Bands at Rich Township have consistently earned Superior ratings in Illinois High School Association Organizational Contests.

The Rich Township Jazz Band performed at the following festivals in 2020:

• New Trier Jazz Festival

• Prairie State Jazz Festival - Superior Rating/Best Band of the Day

• Jazz in the Meadows Jazz Festival - Superior Rating/Outstanding Soloists
