Alternative Spring Break:
Groups of students explore a particular social issue through community engaged service and learning. This program begins in November and continues to Spring Break, where students will spend that week with their group in a chosen city exploring the topic. This year’s trips have topics that cover refugees, reproductive rights, urban design and community health, impacts of COVID-19 on mental health, gender inequity, racial bias in medicine, and disparities in palliative care. Applications will open by October 1 and be due October 24. Follow ccl.rice.edu/asb for more information!
Houston Policy Challenge:
Teams of students work together from October to February to design a community-focused solution to a policy problem in Houston. Proposals are judged by a panel of local leaders and experts, and winners are awarded prizes. Registration (either as a team or individually) is NOW OPEN! Click here to learn more.
