Have you ever seen a coffee maker which is "smart"? It is a strange question I know, because it is clear that they have their programming which to follow but, they exist. The way in which they facilitate an action of daily life, being designed to do an action in less time and with better efficiency. Instead of taking an average of 7 minutes it would become 3 minutes, for example.
After that interesting example, we will dive fully into our theme entitled "Internet of things" or by its acronym in English as "IOT".
The Internet of Things consists of the interconnection of everyday objects with the internet, which allows the automatic exchange of information with other devices or control centers without the need for human intervention.
Thanks to this, different smart elements can be controlled remotely, as well as receiving alerts and status updates on IoT devices.
With the definition provided above clear, let's answer the following question: How does it work? What is it for? and its benefits.
The Internet of Things works by continuously sending, receiving and analyzing data in a feedback loop. These electronic devices and intelligent systems have the ability to determine exactly what information is useful, with the sole purpose of detecting patterns, making recommendations and preventing potential problems before they happen.
To do this, each IoT device connects to a wireless network, where two devices are linked using any type of connectivity (WiFi, bluetooth, cable, etc.) without the need for human intervention.
Regarding what we have previously mentioned, it is necessary to expose its uses in one of the most important sectors for human development: "Industry" then ..
What is Industrial IOT (IIoT)?
IIoT refers to the use of connected machines, devices and sensors in industrial applications. We are now in the middle of the Fourth Industrial Revolution - also known as Industry.
The "revolution" in each of the three past industrial eras was fueled by revolutionary technologies. In the First Industrial Revolution, it was the power of steam; in the second, the assembly line and mechanized production; and in the third, the power of computing. The revolution that sustains Industry 4.0 comes in the form of industrial digitization and cyber physical systems and IoT is in its foundations.
And to finish, we want to publicize the great benefits which are:
It allows permanent communication between users located in different geographical sites at a low cost.
It makes it possible to share and disseminate information on a large scale, fostering cooperation and collaboration between a large number of unions of all kinds (scientific, university, technological, etc.).
Thanks to the Internet, scientific and technological knowledge has reached the underdeveloped and developing nations almost immediately.
It has allowed communication in real time or online between one or more users where they can establish interactive dialogues and at the same time have visual contacts, creating a real environment between people.
