Jehue Esports!

Jehue Middle School Esports was established in the Fall of 2023. A brand new lab was created on campus to give the students an opportunity to explore broadcast technology using OBS Studio and VoiceMeter digital audio. The foundation of exploring this technology was competitive gaming and Rialto Unified School District chose Rocket League as its initial sport!

Fall Semester 2023-24

1-v-1 Championship!

In our first tournament, the students in 1st and 3rd Periods staged a 1-v-1 Tournament to determine the Class Champion. Then, the class champions met after school to determine the Fall School Rocket League Champion (1-v-1).

In 1st Period, Ezekiel Alonso defeated Neri Castillo in the finals of their tournament, while in the 3rd Period finals, Alex Ruiz defeated Eliahs Haymon.

In the School Championship Match, Alex Ruiz scored with 20 seconds left in their one-and-done match to defeat Ezekiel Alonso, 5-4. You can click the video at the left to watch the match!

3-v-3 Championship!

After creating team clubs the students once again battled through class tournaments to determine the 1st and 3rd Period Rocket League Champions, but this time in a 3-v-3 Tournament.

In 1st Period, Team KSR (Angel Castaneda, Adam Hall, and Andrew Brookins) upset the tournament favorites in the first round and went on to take the title against The Three Musketeers, 6-2. In 3rd Period, Team Rizzards (Alex Ruiz, Edward Placencia, and Eliahs Haymon), crushed Team Grand Plats in the finals of their tournament, 15-3.

In the School Championship Match (this time a best 2-out-of-3 match), Team Rizzards defeated Team KSR, 2 games to 1. The first two games were close with Team Rizzards winning the opener, 5-2, while Team KSR rebounded to win the second game, 4-2. Team Rizzards then scored just eight seconds into the third and deciding game and went on to a 6-1 victory to claim the title.

2-v-2 Championship!

Students were given the opportunity to temporarily pair up outside of their team clubs for some 2v2 competition and the result was our 2v2 Championship Tournament.

In 1st Period, Team King (Neri Castillo and Ezekiel Alonso) devastated the competition in the class tournament, outscoring their opponents 34-2 enroute to  the class title. They recorded two shutouts along the way.

In 3rd Period, Team Jack In Da Box (Alex Ruiz and Jack Jahadi) were equally impressive in storming to the team class title. Ruiz had  won  the 1v1 school title and was part of the 3v3 team champions, so it appeared that 3rd Period was closing in on yet another title.

However, in the School Championship Match (a best 2-out-of-3 match), Team King swept Team Jack In Da Box in two straight games to win the title! Team King jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first game behind Neri's two goals, but Alex scored twice with less than a minute to play to tie the game. Neri then scored with 27 seconds left in regulation, hammering home his own sidewall rebound to give Team King a 3-2 win. In the second game, Neri and Ezekiel each scored twice and played solid defense to come away with a 4-1 victory and the title!
