Week of: October 20, 2020 – October 23, 2020

Focus: Use of mutliple assessments to gather student learning information

Observers will be looking for and providing feedback on the following:

Teacher Look fors

· Implementation of various assessments to determine student mastery levels.

· Use of various assessments to differentiate instruction.

Student Look fors

· Students understand why assessments are being used.

· Students receive and can articulate why their assignments may be different from their peers.

Rationale:

"Assessment is an integral part of instruction, as it determines whether or not the goals of education are being met. Assessment affects decisions about grades, placement, advancement, instructional needs, curriculum, and, in some cases, funding. Assessment inspire us to ask these hard questions: "Are we teaching what we think we are teaching?" "Are students learning what they are supposed to be learning?" "Is there a way to teach the subject better, thereby promoting better learning" (Wiggins, 2008)?

Why Assessment is Important
