Your store is out of pasta and rice? No problem! Here are some alternative grains that are filling and have a long shelf life!

Jarred Sauces
Curry sauce
Pesto sauce
Clam Sauce
For an antibacterial cleaner, mix together 3 cups of water, ½ cup of white vinegar and 10-15 drops of lavender or tea tree essential oil in a glass spray bottle. Shake to mix. Store with the lid on for 1-2 weeks and use on cutting boards, counter tops, or anywhere that needs a good germ killing!
Paper Product Tip: Reusing dish towels for cleaning the house and wiping up messes are a great alternative to saving paper towel and napkins.
Lentil Tacos
Dried lentils 1-2 cups
Olive Oil 1 tbsp.
1 onion or large shallot
1 head of red or Green cabbage
1/4 cup broth
Corn/flour tortilla
Sweet potatoes 3-4 (optional)
1 Teaspoon Pepper
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 tablespoon of chili powder
1/2 Teaspoon Paprika
1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Onion Powder
1 Tablespoon Tomato Paste
Wash all vegetables!
1. Soak the lentils for how long the bag says
2. Once lentils are ready cut up onion or shallots, and the cabbage
3. Add oil onion/shallots to large skillet
4. While pan is heating up toss chopped sweet potatoes onto a baking sheet with some oil, salt, and pepper bake at 350 degrees till lightly browned.
5. Once the onion is fragrant add lentils tomato paste, and broth to skillet and let it cook up.
6. Once ingredients are cooked into a stewed consistency add the spices and stir up.
7. Set the lentils aside and put tortillas into the oven to warm up a bit. While tortillas are warming chop up some cabbage.
8. Layer lentils, potatoes and cabbage onto tortillas and enjoy!
Haluski (Pan Fried Cabbage and Noodles)
1 pack of Bacon/sausage/ground meat
1 head of Cabbage
1 Onion/shallots/chives/green onion
4 cloves of Garlic
1/2 cup Oil/ 1 stick butter
1 bag of Egg noodles
Wash all vegetables!
1. Cut up onions, garlic, and head of cabbage and discard core
2. fry up with one 1tbl spoon of butter or 1 tsp of oil in a large deep pan.
3. Once the onion and garlic is aromatic add the cabbage and more butter or oil. Cook down cabbage.
4. Add the meat, if using sausage or bacon cut up into bite sized pieces.
5. While veggies and meat brown up boil the egg noodles.
6. Once egg noodles are done add them and the rest of butter or oil to the pan and fry up the ingredients.
Super Easy and Delicious Curry Skillet
1 jar of Madras Curry Simmer Sauce (or whatever pre-jarred curry sauce you like)
1 cup of quinoa or whatever rice you like
1 tablespoon cooking oil
1 – 2 zucchinis/cups of kale or any green veggie you’d like
1 pack of chopped baby carrots or 6 large chopped carrots
1-2 jars of garbonzo beans or lentils or chicken
1 onion/shallot/green onions
4 cloves of garlic or 1 tsp garlic powder
Wash all Vegetables!
1. Cut up all veggies
2. Cook quinoa or rice
3. Add a drizzle of oil the onion and garlic to a large pan till fragrant
4. (If cooking chicken) Pat chicken and season both sides with salt and pepper, bake in the oven till cooked through while veggies cook
5. After onions are fragrant add the other vegetables with some more oil and salt and pepper
6. After carrots are softened, drain beans and add to skillet
7. If chicken, cut up cooked chicken and add to vegetables
8. Toss up all ingredients and add the jar of curry sauce, simmer for ten minutes
9. Let cool and add over rice!
