7th Grade Health
COURSE INFORMATION:
Enduring Understanding: To positively influence the behaviors of students and help develop good decision-making skills that enable them to make healthy choices for themselves and others, set goals, and develop life-long healthy enhancing lifestyles.
Course Description: HEALTH is a one-quarter course that includes units on decision making/goal setting, substance abuse, mental/emotional health, and human growth and development/disease prevention.
Objectives: By the end of the course, students will:
demonstrate the ability to use goal setting and decision making skills to enhance their health.
establish and maintain a healthy lifestyle of tobacco, alcohol and other non-medicinal drugs.
learn accurate information about their physical development and mental and emotional health.
avoid behaviors that result in pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
7the and 8th Grade PE
COURSE INFORMATION:
Physical education is a class where everyone can participate and is an extremely important component to a well rounded education. Each student is trying to improve his/her cognitive, social, psychomotor, and emotional development through activity. Our goal is to provide students with an opportunity to engage in physical activity/social interacting while providing an atmosphere that is safe during the present situation. We want students to understand the many ways they can stay physically fit throughout their lives. Please reference the course syllabus under your child's teacher.
Enduring Understandings
Staying physically active during the current situation is essential in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
A balance of the components of physical fitness are important in maintaining health and wellness throughout an individual’s lifetime.
People who live a physically active lifestyle lower their chances of developing certain illnesses and diseases.
The ability to work together and use positive interpersonal skills will result in overall success.
The ability to recognize and be aware of many different types of physical activities.
