The White River National Forest has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in the past seven years buying and installing bear-proof food and trash containers at its campgrounds, realizing the problem. Most of the bear boxes were installed in campgrounds in the Roaring Fork, Frying-pan and Crystal river valleys.
