Students who have not done the practice work will obviously not know the French they need to know to do the performance assessment. Then the temptation to use Google Translate is too great. I am trying to measure student's proficiency in French, not Google Translate. Students will be required to do at least 50% of the practice work before taking a performance assessment over that topic.
Students should finish and submit Practice work within one week of being assigned. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE ACTIVITIES WE DO TOGETHER OR PERFORMANCE QUIZZES DURING ONLINE CLASS WHICH SHOULD BE DONE AT THAT TIME.
I understand that remote learning is challenging and families may have problems come up. Please communicate with me if something is preventing your student from completing work on time.
I reserve the right to set time limits on late work. Students need to build from the bottom up, and they cannot do that if they are weeks behind in their work, they simply will not be able to keep up and make progress.
Grades will be updated weekly, perhaps more than once a week
At least 2 grades will go in weekly
If the student used Google Translate or another tool to do their work instead of what I have given them or allowed them to use, they will not receive credit. This has been explained to students verbally and is in writing on all their performance assignments. They have chosen to disregard that and to present something they have not created themselves as their own work. This is academic misconduct, they are not learning French that way, and I will not give credit. They may have the chance to redo it following directions. If you have questions about how I can tell when they have used Translate/Siri etc, I can explain that to you via phone or email.
