Anticipating the Birth: An Advent Journey of Hope, Migration, and Welcome
This video series is based on Rondell Treviño’s book, Anticipating the Birth of Jesus: An Advent Devotional on Immigration. Through his lens, we encounter the Christmas story not simply as a peaceful nativity scene, but as a story of migration—a young family on the move, navigating power, fear, rejection, and the need for refuge.
Produced by Rev. Dr. HiRho Park with permission from Rondell Treviño, this 25-day video devotional series brings these Advent reflections to life in a new way. Each short video invites us to pause, listen, reflect, and pray as we see Advent through the experiences of migrants and refugees—and encounter the God who became flesh in the midst of uncertainty and vulnerability.
At a time when immigration remains one of the most pressing and divisive issues in our society, the Christmas story invites us to look again. The birth of Jesus is good news not only at the manger, but also for the stranger, the displaced, and the excluded.
We invite you to journey with us through these 25 days of Advent. Listen. Reflect. Pray. Open your heart to the God who still meets us in unexpected places—and calls us to make room for one another.
