Meet Sam (Hao Wang) – violin & viola instructor

An alumnus of San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Sam earned his Masters degrees in Viola Performance, Chamber Music, and Orchestral Literature, supported by a full scholarship and under the tutelage of San Francisco Symphony Associate Principal Violist, Jay Liu. His foundational musical training includes a Bachelor of Music degree from Renmin University of China, where he also held the distinguished position of principal violist.

Sam's extensive performance career includes tenures with top-tier ensembles such as the China Central Opera Orchestra, the China National Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestra National for the Performing Arts. In 2010, his exceptional musicianship led to a collaboration with the China Philharmonic on a soundtrack project, and he was also invited by the University of Oklahoma to perform chamber music and featured as a guest soloist. Today, alongside his dedicated focus on instruction, Sam maintains an active performing career as the Principal Violist of the Mission Chamber Orchestra.

Driven by his passion for teaching and building upon years of teaching experience in various institutions, Sam founded Reverie Music Studio in 2020. Under his guidance, his students have consistently achieved outstanding results. He boasts a 100% success rate for students applying to the Golden State Youth Orchestra, and a 100% pass rate for students understanding ABRSM exams. Sam has also contributed to the Golden State Youth Orchestra as a sub coach for their most advanced ensemble, the Senior Symphony. 

Sam’s teaching approach prioritizes a deep understanding of each student’s unique personality and goals. This enables him to develop tailored lesson plans that make learning enjoyable and fulfilling, ultimately empowering students to achieve their maximum musical potential.
