How Does it work?

Our composting toilet system features a two-bucket design in toilets, ensuring efficient waste separation and eco-friendly processing. The top Poop Bucket is periodically swapped and emptied to a larger compost bin.

1. The Drainage Bucket below: 

• collects small amounts of liquid from urine, cleaning, or bidet water that some may use to wash themselves. 

• The liquid passes through a gravel, sand, and mesh filter before draining into our ecological greywater recycling system.

2. The Poop Bucket above: (only this top bucket is removed and replaced after emptying)

   • Positioned snugly beneath the toilet hatch to collect solids.

   • Features a mesh filter at the bottom, allowing excess fluids, (like urine, cleaning or bidet water), to drain into the Drainage Bucket below.

   • Holds waste for approximately one week, before requiring replacement with a standby empty bucket.

   • The full bucket is then transferred to a designated Larger Compost Bin.

3. Larger Compost Bins: (e.g. Compost Wheelie bins)

   • Waste is stored for up to 12 months, allowing beneficial bacteria (like Lactic Acid Bacteria, Lactobacillus) to aid in thorough composting, producing a valuable soil fertility amendment for trees.

   • Bins enable correct aeration and humidity, promoting decomposition and ensuring safe, sustainable, waste management. The optimal environment for beneficial bacteria to do their job.
