Week 19
Letter from Mrs. Ferrell
I hope this message finds you well. Our scholars have continued to show wonderful growth and dedication, and I am excited to share what we will be learning and important updates for the week ahead. I am very proud of the growth our students demonstrated on their Amplify assessments—their hard work truly showed! Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
What is happening this week?
In English Language Arts, we will begin introducing prepositions, focusing on how these words show location and position within a sentence. We will continue reading Chapters 3–5 of our Peter Pan novel, engaging in comprehension activities, discussion, and writing connected to the story.
We will be reviewing mental math strategies to strengthen fluency and confidence with numbers. This week, we will also be taking our Math Middle-of-Year assessment, which will help guide instruction for the remainder of the semester.
In History, scholars will begin learning about American settlers moving west, discussing reasons for westward expansion and the challenges settlers faced.
In Science, we will start our unit on force and motion, exploring how objects move and what causes movement through hands-on observations and discussions.
Report cards were sent home and must be signed and returned on Monday.
2nd Grade Recitation will take place Monday at 7:45 AM. Please ensure scholars arrive on time and prepared.
Join us for our CiCi’s Pizza Fundraiser Night on January 15th from 4:00–6:00 PM. We hope to see many of our families there supporting our school!
At Founders Classical Academy, our classical approach continues to expand the minds of our scholars by developing strong thinkers, readers, and communicators. It is a joy to see students growing not only academically but also in responsibility and character.
🧥 Expectations
Dress Code: Please help us by ensuring your child follows the school dress code each day. Shirts should be tucked in, shoes tied, and outerwear should follow school uniform guidelines. (Please also make sure students are coming to school with a jacket.)
Homework & Assignments: Students are responsible for turning in homework and class assignments on time. Please check your child’s folder each evening for important papers and homework sheets.
Penmanship & Neatness: We are emphasizing careful and neat handwriting. Students should take pride in their work by writing legibly and using proper spacing and capitalization.
