Summer 2023

In addition to our regular prep sessions, we also hosted REAL WORLD WEDNESDAYS where Tutors provided connections between their content areas and the real world. See some of the connections below:

2022-2023

End-of-the-Year Beach Fest!

For our final event of the school year, we hosted a terrifc Beach Fest! We all wore our favorite summer outfits and danced along to summer songs while we played trivia games and watched videos! It was super fun!



May Book Club: Bridge to Terabithia

Although we had a ton of students sign up, we only had ONE attendee. This dedicated student did NOT watch the movie or read ahead but read along with me, as we learned about Jesse and Leslie and their unusual friendship. We watched them build not only their own skills but a beautiful land of make-believe. It was terrific!



April/May 2023: Spring STAAR Success Camps

We hosted some awesome Success Camps for students! People came and played games and reviewed the most important test-taking skills to succeed on the STAAR!



FEBRUARY DANCE PARTY: 1950s Sock Hop!


We had a blast groovin' and a movin' to the likes of Elvis, Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper! We learned how to do the Hand Jive and we practiced blowing the biggest bubbles! A good time was had by all, for sure!


JANUARY 2023 BOOK CLUB: Grades 3-5 

The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary

We spend January learning about Ralph-the-Mouse whose entire life changes when a young boy named Keith checks into the hotel where Ralph lives. Ralph immediately notices that Keith has something pretty special with him. Keith and Ralph develop a friendship and Ralph's adventures begin!

We had such a great time!


3rd ANNUAL Pajama Party!

December 15th!

We had a terrific time dressing up in our PJs and dancing to some holiday tunes! We played reindeer games and did a craft!

MEET AND GREET WITH PETS!

Tuesday, September 13th

We met on Zoom and learned about all of our fabulous pets! What fun we had listening about rescue horses and lizards! We even saw a whole colony of rescue cats!

October Book Club: Grades 9-12

We learned so much about pirates and the pirate life! We enjoyed learning about Jim Hawkins and Long John Silver! Celebration day came on Halloween this year! How convenient!

Thursday, October 27th

Fall Fest was a great show this year! Costumes were worn and pumpkins were drawn! We listened to fun music and played some games!

SUMMER 2022

On Tuesday, June 7th, The Success Center hosted some students for an IMPROV for Beginners event! We had such fun! Here is a photo to prove it!

On Thursday, June 16th, The Success Center hosted some students for a SCENE WRITING event! We had MUCH fun writing a scene based on images! What scene can you think up with these images?

2021-2022

On May 24th we hosted our last event of the school year: The Playlist Party! 

Attendance was not as huge as expected, but those that did show had a terrific time. We played our "happy songs" and had tons of fun learning about what makes those songs special to us!


We trained our brains to be ready for STAAR and boy, did it pay off! 

The Success Center hosted English 1 and 2 camps in March to prepare for English EOC exams in early April. In late April, we hosted Algebra 1, US History, and Biology camps to prep for the first week of May for EOC testing. Attendance was outstanding!

At the end of February 2022, we had such a good time at our SLAMMIN' 1970s Disco Dance Party! We learned how to do The Hustle and discovered the joys of Disco Duck!

Fahrenheit 451  by Ray Bradbury!

In January of 2022, we had a small but dedicated group join us in developing projects and discussing one of the greatest novels of all time!

ONLINE Pajama Party!


On Thursday, December 16th from 5-6 pm, The Success Center hosted a group of fantastic students, teachers, and parents! We had such fun showing off our festive pajamas, playing reindeer games, creating a holiday craft, and learning about each other and our happy holiday traditions!

Thanksgiving Pie (recipe) Swap!

On Thursday, November 18th from 5-6pm, The Success Center hosted a small and intimate group of students, parents and teachers. We played some games and watched some videos. We shared some family recipes and had great fun creating some handprint turkeys!

Another successful ONLINE Book Club -- The Giver by Lois Lowry -- Grades 9 & 10 -- COMPLETED! Meetings were held each Monday and Friday in October.  We made Self-Identity Webs and drew both black&white and color images of a scene or object from the book. On the last day, we had a fun celebration! Only two people dressed up but the book was well-received and everyone learned how to have a GOOD disucssion!  

The Success Center hosted an online Fall Festival event on Thursday, October 28th from 5:00pm-6:00pm

We dressed up and had great fun!




The staff of The Success Center dressed in pink and took a photo to show our support of Breastcancer Awareness Month in October!

On Thursday, September 23rd, we all got together and enjoyed some time talking about what made us happy this summer, what we wished for, and what we liked the most! It was fun to get to know others and just interact with kids at iSVA!

First Book Club of the new school year COMPLETE

Grade 9 members met every Monday and Friday from August 30th - September 27th at 3pm.

We read HOLES by Louis Sachar and discussed the full measure of adventures of both the past and present located at Camp Green Lake! It was a small group this time but an active one! We celebrated on our final day with a dress up day!

On Wednesday, August 18th, The Success Center had a terrific time helping students learn the secrets of Algebra Success!

Secret 1:  Algebra is like learning a foreign language 

Secret 2:  Some things just have to be memorized.

Secret 3:  If you do not understand something do not just move on. Get help if you need to - from your teacher, tutor or online sources. 

Secret 4:  Keep resources and materials handy - create an Algebra Folder.

Secret 5:  One must practice - just like learning anything new - practice makes perfect!  

2020-2021

The Success Center hosted some fun sessions for ONLINE Summer Success Camps via Zoom. There was a small but dedicated group of students who learned some Algebra skills in Math and Myths and Legends in Reading.

The Success Center hosted a fabulous online musical event for the whole family! We had a terrific guest co-host, Mrs. Koch! She is a music teacher who gives private lessons! Please reach out to her here, if you are interested:

Spring STAAR Success Camps

MARCH and APRIL

We had great fun learning and visiting with other kids during our Spring Success Camps!

Such a great group of kids read and learned about immortality and the joys of living during our Online Book Club: Tuck Everlasting!

We had such a great time!

High School Book Club: The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton

January 2021

We had a wonderful time following Ponyboy and Johnny through their adventures! Even though we only had a few members, we learned a bunch and had great fun!


Meet & Greet with Pets!

January 2021

We had terrific fun meeting other pet owners from iSVA. Students and Staff had some dance parties and shared what makes their pets special. We had quite a variety: dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, snakes, and even a bearded dragon!


Holiday Pajama Party

December 2020

All iSVA students, parents and staff were invited to dress in their most festive pajamas for this fabulous end-of-the-semester party! We enjoyed some cocoa and played some reindeer games! It was tons of fun!


Zoomsgiving Feast!

November 2020

All iSVA school students were invited to participate in an online Zoomsgiving Feast.  We played games, danced the Turkey Disco  and had an opportunity to share awesome family recipes!

Pumpkin Patch Party

October 2020

The Pumpkin Patch Party was super fun! We played games and listened to spooky music! We shared some truly awesome costumes!

Elementary School Book Club

October 2020

iSVA elementary school students had fun as they shared their drawings of the BFG.  This was one of the many activities prepared from the book.

Middle School Book Club

September 2020

iSVA middle school students celebrated the completion of the book, The Cay, in a grand way!  They came dressed as characters from the book. 

We had a lobster! We even had the ocean!

Back-to-School Workshops

August 2020

Still on Zoom, we worked with students to prepare for the upcoming school year. Time management strategies and classroom skills were the focus of these lively meetings.

March 16, 2020 

Lockdown to Zoom began! Everyone worked from home and we tutored via Zoom, learning all kinds of remote teaching strategies!

Post-Valentine's Day Poetry SLAM!

February 2020

This was pre-Covid 19 so we were able to do a wonderful on-site party! Students, teachers, parents and tutors from iSVA joined us for some super February fun!

We got together to celebrate the birthday of Jakob Grimm! We played games, ate birthday snacks, and had great fun!

2018-2019

STAAR Success Camp 

March 2019

Prior to each testing administration, the Success Center hosts an in person Success Camp to provide iSVA students with additional tips for success on STAAR/EOC tests.  Students who attend meet other iSVA students and work together as they have fun learning.

San Antonio Open House Event

March 2019

We held an Open House Event for the San Antonio location.  iSVA students and families in that area were encouraged to come out to explore the center and have a little fun with our staff.
