I have worked as a researcher for more than 25 years, with the majority of projects being evaluation in different policy domains, but mainly in criminal justice and education. I am interested in and enthusiastic about the generation, synthesis and use of evidence in policy.
I have written a book on experimental designs and designed, led or advised on hundreds of impact evaluations.
I work part-time as Professor in Practice, Criminology and Public Policy, at the University of Oxford. Alongside my academic role, I advise the Strategic Insight Unit at the Metropolitan Police Service.
