Events Director, Telegraph for People
Since my first semester of college, I have served as the Events Director of Telegraph for People, UC Berkeley's leading urbanist group. I led "Shattuck for People", the temporary occupation of a major arterial road in Berkeley to provide space for people. We attracted thousands of passerbys, two live bands, and the support of elected officials, transportation advocates, and campus members. I have also supported Southside upzoning and complete streets initiatives, protested in support of community and public spaces, and guided other UC campuses on their safe streets and micromobility initiatives.
Head, Local Affairs and Organizing Department, Associated Students of UC Office of External Affairs
Whereas in Telegraph for People I work from outside governing systems (although regularly collaborating with them), my work within the ASUC is intended to directly influence local and university policy. I worked to ensure representative districting and better routing and frequency with AC Transit's 2024 'Realign', and was able to push the service changes back by a year when the agency was unable to create a plan that better served the community. I also coordinated a visit by a BART Board Member to campus to give updates on the agency's post-pandemic recovery, answer questions, and accept feedback. Currently, I am organizing a round table discussion of state elected officials, transportation agency managers, students, and advocates to advance Baypass, the Bay Area-wide transportation pass provided for free for students, currently in its pilot stage.
