Step 3: Go into the Field

360 camera

  • Are available through the REMC1 Resource Request Form

    • Request Both the 360 Camera and an iPad

    • GOISD educators please include a shipping address under Comments/Special Requests; we cannot ship iPads.\- check with Steve on how to access one from GOISD.

    • Equipment on loan for 1 week per request

  • Are Easy to Use but should be handled carefully

Community Partner & Experts

  • Visit a Geosite with a geo-scientist and/or community partner

  • Take pictures and notes related to your learning objectives & interests

  • Consider what you will want to focus on ahead of time; be open to adjusting

Step 4: Develop a Quality Virtual Field Experience

Tips for Creating Experience

  • Have a plan on paper before your sit down at the computer

  • Have your community partners and/or experts review a draft of the geo-investigation to be sure that all of the information is accurate and clear.

  • Create, save and outline content using the following procedure:

      1. Capture 360 images, video, and other supporting content

      2. Save this content to a Google Drive or Google Photos Folder (ensures it's backed up, easily accessible, and shareable)

      3. Create the commentary/narration/content of the tour. This should be written out in a Google Doc, Sheet or Slide (ensures it's backed up, easily accessible, and shareable)

      4. Showcase the tour (we currently recommend RoundMe.com or Driftspace but other options exist)

          • Create a free account with RoundMe.com or driftspace.com

          • Upload images to build tour

Step 5: Taking Others on the Virtual Field Geo-Investigation

  • Share link of RoundMe tour to be viewed on REMC1 VR kit devices or student mobile devices
