Thursday 7th July - In PSHCE, we learnt all about team work. We built our team work skills by trying out a range of activities - such as building together, completing jigsaws together and playing board games together.
Wednesday 6th July - We had an amazing afternoon at our Sports Day! We loved taking part in all of the challenges and were very resilient, it was lovely having our parents and carers there to cheer us on!
Tuesday 5th July - When we came back from break today, our chairs were gone! We received a shocking letter from the chairs, who told us they had left due to our unkind behaviour towards them. We had to write a quick persuasive letter to get our chairs back after lunch, luckily they returned after hearing our letters!
Tuesday 5th July - In D&T, we designed what we wanted our glove puppets to look like. We then measured our hands and traced them both, cut them out and stuck them together. We realised the glue was not very strong for the materials and used some staples to keep our puppet together. We then added designs and more detail using a range of fabrics and felt tips. Look at our finished product!
Wednesday 29th June - In D&T, we practiced sewing again! Today we tried out using cross stitch and over stitch! Look how proud we are!
Wednesday 29th June - We looked at 3D shapes today! We explored their names and their different properties. We specifically looked at faces and the difference between 2D and 3D!
Tuesday 28th June - We looked at polygons today, we sorted them into the categories of regular and irregular polygons and then explained why they were in each category!
Monday 27th June - We had an absolutely amazing time at the park and at Ainsdale Beach. We had a long bus journey then we arrived and spent a long time playing. We then ate our lunch at the park and almost got attacked by seagulls! They were so cheeky! We then headed back on the bus and travelled to the beach. At the beach we made sandcastles, collected pebbles and shells and had an important talk from the lifeguards.
Wednesday 22nd June- We absolutely love reading in this class, we love visiting our library when we have finished our book to read a range of genres.
Tuesday 21st June- In D&T, we learnt about using sewing to join materials together. We then practiced using a running stitch. It took a lot of endurance and resilience, even to just put the thread through the needle! But we did it!
Monday 20th June- In Science, we learnt all about habitats and how animals adapt to their habitats, we took part in a running reporter activity and worked with our group to create an information poster!
Monday 20th June- In Computing, we looked at matching programmes that had the same outcome using Scratch Jr!
Friday 17th June- We had an amazing Science workshop this afternoon, we were so amazed with all of the fantastic science that we saw!
Wednesday 15th June- We had a brilliant first money lesson today! We focused on coin recognition and worked with our partner to match the correct coin to its' value!
Tuesday 14th June- In D&T this week, we designed our own finger puppets by drawing in our books. We then used felt and glue to design, cut and glue together our own finger puppet. We had to be resilient as it was not an easy task, look how proud we are!
Monday 13th June- In Computing this week, we revisited Scratch Jr and worked out which buttons we need to use to create a sequence for a character to follow
Friday 10th June- In Spanish this week, we revisited our numbers from 1-10 and played lots of games to help us remember them.. we loved playing SPLAT!
Thursday 9th June- In PSHCE this week, we focused on how we can build healthy relationships on the playground, we played playground games as a class and played basketball. We learnt how to take turns, how to play using kind hands and that team work can help us all!
Tuesday 7th June- In D&T, we explored the variety of puppets in the world.. we got to identify what they were made out of, how they move and decide if we like or dislike them and why.. we will be making our own puppets in a few weeks!
Thursday 26th May- In our History lesson, we did some research on the amazing John Lennon! He is a famous musician from Liverpool. We collected some facts around the classroom and then found more facts online!
Thursday 26th May- In our British Values lesson, we looked at how we can promote Mutual Respect and Tolerance across our school and within our classroom. Look at our beautiful posters of ideas!
Wednesday 25th May- In R.E., we have learnt all about Hanukkah, we learnt about lighting the Hanukkah Menorah and why it is so important in celebrating. We also learnt about other traditions, such as playing with a dreidel and having a special meal. At the end of the lesson, we got to see a real Hanukkah Menorah and have a go at playing with the dreidels.
Monday 23rd May- This week in Computing, we explored patterns in Music and rhythm using Chrome Music lab!
Monday 16th May- Also in Computing, we used Chrome Music lab to draw ourselves to see how pitch and duration can change using different shapes
Monday 16th May- In Computing, we used SeeSaw to create Musical Art. We listened to Neptune by Holst and we had to draw what we saw in our heads...
Wednesday 11th May- Creating our own special messages to read everyday in R.E. like the special messages Jewish people read in The Mezuzah everyday!
Tuesday 10th May- Using mark making and line drawing to create collages and buildings around the world in Art.
Monday 9th May- Exploring rhythm and pulse using Chrome Music Lab in Computing.
Thursday 5th May- Today we celebrated Eid by creating Eid cards and by listening to our Eid expert and asking her questions.
Thursday 5th May- We used cubes and counters to divide numbers by 2 and find one half of numbers.
Friday 29th April - We raised money for the Alzheimer's Society today by having a whole school Bake off for Dementia and Y2 wore their own clothes - we had fun tasting everyone's delicious cakes and loved wearing our own clothes for the day!
Wednesday 27th April - For our introduction to Fractions, we worked out half of numbers by splitting cubes into two equal groups and counting how many cubes were in each group - we thought fractions were easy!
Tuesday 26th April - We learnt all about the LGBTQ+ community and how we can celebrate diversity. We celebrated who we are by creating self portraits, we worked so hard to make sure the portraits were accurate and had the correct features.
Thursday 7th April - We listened to the nouns, adjectives and verbs song and then used the song to help us identify nouns, adjectives and verbs!
Thursday 7th April - We took part in an Easter Egg designing competition - we showed endurance and resilience as we spent a lot of time creating our own designs. We then picked our 4 favourites and they won an extra chocolate egg!
Thursday 7th April - We took part in a family Easter Egg hunt today - our parents/carers joined us on the yard to search for different Easter Eggs with a variety of patterns! We copied the patterns down and brought them to Miss when we had finished and exchanged them for a chocolate egg!
Tuesday 5th April - We were treated to a visit to Bounce House today! We had an hour of bouncing and trampolining - it was so much fun!
Tuesday 29th March- We learnt all about resilience this afternoon and took part in some activities which would test our resilience, we worked so hard on this tricky tangram activity!
Tuesday 29th March- We enjoyed a very fun Easter Egg hunt today with M.J.!
Monday 28th March- We worked so hard on our independent writing piece for this half term.. we have made so much progress!
Friday 25th March- We visited the Walker Art Gallery and The World Museum today... we had such an amazing day and got to enjoy our lunch in the sunshine! It was a wonderful day out!
Thursday 24th March- In our Forest School session today, we had some free time to play.. some of us made a swing and tried to repair a broken birdhouse! We then had a go at making Mother's Day cards and found somewhere quiet to work independently...
Thursday 24th March- In PSCHE, it was Neuro-diversity week! We looked at all of the ways our brain can work differently to our friends, we learnt all about Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Tourettes! We then made our own sensory boards that can be used to help those with these differences, learn better!
Thursday 24th March- In Music, we listened to some fantastic songs and we had to try and find the pulse using different parts of our body!
Thursday 24th March- Our wonderful parents and carers came into school to join us for a Maths lesson - we looked at division of numbers within the 2,5,10 times tables and practiced making equal groups.
Tuesday 21st March- In D.T. this week, we peeled and chopped fruit and used the fruit to make our delicious fruit kebabs - they were delicious! We had to be resilient with chopping and peeling - it was tricky!
Monday 20th March- In Computing, we collected data about our favourite fruit, inputt the data onto a tally chart and then answered questions about the data we collected!
Thursday 17th March- In PSCHE, we looked at the rights of a child. We discussed what we need in life to survive and what we want in life - there were some interesting questions discussed! We then created a diamond nine pyramid ranking the rights that we believe were most important to least important!
Monday 14th March- In Computing this half term, we are learning all about inputting data onto a device - today we looked at specific data and input the data onto the iPad using a pictogram, we were so focused and were able to answer questions about the data after this!
Friday 11th March- We had a very exciting visit from the farm today - we got to meet a pony, goats, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, a chinchilla and chickens! We loved learning about each animal - and we LOVED stroking them!
Friday 4th March- In Geography this half term, we are learning all about the U.K. and today we focused on locating the counties of the U.K. on a map using the 4 points of a compass - we were brilliant!
Thursday 3rd March- In D&T this half term, we are making fruit kebabs. Today, we got to test and evaluate the fruit we will use for our kebabs, we had to smell, taste and touch the fruit to come to a decision about which fruit we will use in our final product - it was so much fun!
Thursday 3rd March- We finally had a DISCO!!! We have had 100% attendance 5 times which meant we got to have a DISCO on an already amazing day! We had so much fun dancing and eating some lovely treats! I can't wait for our next disco!
Thursday 3rd March- We loved visiting our library today to read some of our favourite stories!
Thursday 3rd March- We loved following the KS1 ‘using your imagination’ live session to create some fantastic character illustrations from the story “The Worst Class In The World
Thursday 3rd March- Dressing up for World Book Day! We dressed up as our favourite book characters - we looked amazing!
Tuesday 1st March - Year 6 came down to visit us in Year 2 and read us some of our favourite stories - we loved it!
Tuesday 1st March - To celebrate World Book Week, we had a fantastic author visit who read us her story called "Tatty Ava" - we found it so funny and had so much fun completing activities related to the story! We can't wait to read it again!
Thursday 17th February - In PSCHE, we looked at how we are all different but that that is what we love about each other - we read the story 'The Odd Egg' and compared eggs in real life, we looked at what we liked about them and why it was great that they were different to each other... we then got to eat them!
Thursday 17th February - In Music today, we played the twelve bar blues on the glockenspiel, we kept to the beat and really impressed Miss! We are a class of future musicians!
Monday 14th February - In Science, we completed a retrieval task, we had to create a human life cycle in order from earliest to latest, we were so quick and remembered lots of key vocabulary!
Thursday 3rd February - We LOVED our music lesson this week! We got to play I wanna play in a band, on the glockenspiels! We were playing in time, to the rhythm!
Thursday 3rd February - Enjoying our time in the library - exploring the fantastic books we have!
Thursday 3rd February - In Maths today, we learnt more about what a group may look like using counters and cubes - we then had a go at writing repeated addition number sentences after we had worked out how to create equal groups from different numbers.
Wednesday 2nd February - We loved learning about writing instructions and the important use of imperative verbs - we told Miss Doran how to make a jam sandwich! Our instructions weren't clear enough and she got jam all over the table and her hands - yuck! We then got to try some of the sandwich!
Tuesday 1st February - We loved our Forest School session - it was too dangerous to go into the actual forest so Mr Dewhurst set up some activities for us to do on the yard - the painting got very messy and windy! So we decided to take out some chalk instead. We worked together as teams to build fairy dens, create spider webs and play noughts and crosses.
Monday 31st January - In Computing, we designed our own grids that our Blue Bots could travel on - virtually - through the iPad. We really enjoyed being creative and using our understanding of instructions to let our Blue Bot explore our grids!
Thursday 27th January- We studied Fauvism today and painted our animal masks from earlier in the week - we studied the images of the animals again and added bright colours to the small details on the image to match the Fauvism style.
Tuesday 25th January- In Art, we used mask templates to sketch and create animal masks, we carefully studied images of different animals and took our time to focus on specific features..
Tuesday 25th January- we loved completing our NCETM Mastering Numbers challenge today, we needed to be very resilient!
Thursday 20th January - we have been so focused during our Booster sessions - we completed some very tricky Arithmetic sums today and tried so hard!
Thursday 20th January - We have been practising our song "I wanna play in a band" in our Music lessons - we love performing it, take a sneak peek us rehearsing!
Friday 14th January - We have been loving our ukulele lessons on a Friday with Mr Rowe, we can play a few chords and know how to rest!
Monday 10th January - In Computing, we looked at the importance of giving specific instructions, this is very important when coding!
Tuesday 7th December - In DT, we painted our model cars that we created last week - we got to use paint and thought carefully about our original designs.
Monday 6th December - In Science, we investigated how materials can change shapes - we twisted, bent, squashed and stretched a range of materials and compared their properties.
Friday 3rd December - We finally went on our Geography trip into Liverpool, Southport and Ainsdale! We explored the differences between a city, town and village - we had lots of fun!
Thursday 2nd December - we loved watching The Christmas Chronicles on our movie night!
Tuesday 30th November - We learnt all about Hanukkah today and about the special objects which you may see at a Hanukkah celebration, we then decorated images of these things!
Tuesday 30th November - We created our model vehicles in DT today, it took a lot of endurance as it was quite tricky - but we completed it in the end!
Friday 26th November - We began subtracting across the ten boundary in Maths today, we used counters and tens frames to complete lots of sums like 12-4 and 13-6 and we were superstars!
Thursday 25th November- In PSCHE - we discussed who are special people are, why they are special and what they do for us.
Thursday 25th November- We loved our Music lesson today - we learnt our first verse and rap verse for our new song 'Ho Ho Ho' - we loved the rapping so much!
Wednesday 17th November - We loved our practical Maths lesson today! We used tens frames to answer word problems where we had to add 3 numbers together to create a total greater than 10. We were maths superstars!
Tuesday 16th November - We loved our Forest School session today! We got some free time to explore the forest, we got to draw using chalk and we worked in teams to create homes for all of the creatures that live there!
Monday 15th November - This week in Computing - we looked at how to take a good photograph and practiced taking photographs using landscape and portrait mode!
Thursday 11th November - Today we thought about our favourite stories, why we love reading and designed a new cover for our favourite story!
Thursday 11th November - Today we thought about who can help us in school and how they help us to be safe in school. We also thought about how we follow our school rules!
Tuesday 9th November - Next week is Anti-Bullying week. Today we looked at what bullying is and how we can stop it, we created posters to put around school to inform everyone else.
Tuesday 9th November - In DT, we explored a variety of ways to assemble vehicles using wheels and axels. In a few weeks, we will be designing and building our own vehicle!
Tuesday 9th November - We completed a retrieval session by completing a Kahoot! quiz about The Great Fire of London - one of our Year 1 topics! We love Kahoot quizzes!
Friday 5th November - In Geography, we started a new topic by exploring the differences between rural and urban settlements.
Thursday 4th November - We loved our Messy Science Afternoon - our special adults joined us to take part in an experiment about The Water Cycle. We created our own precipitation using shaving foam, food colouring and water.
Thursday 4th November - We celebrated Diwali today - we watched a video all about the story of Rama and Sita and then designed our own Diya lamps!
Friday 22nd October- 2D all dressed up in our Halloween costumes - we all looked so spooky! Thank you to our fabulous parents/carers for all your effort in our costumes!
Friday 22nd October- Enjoying a Spooky Walk in our fantastic forest school - we were terrified!
Thursday 21st October - Improvising to our song Hands, Feet and Heart using the glockenspiels!
Friday 15th October - We compared and contrasted Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria, we read the statements and decided if the statement was about Queen Elizabeth, Victoria or both!
Tuesday 12th October - We created continuous line drawings of wonderful, autumnal leaves found in our school environment in Art! We then used wax crayons to create an even more detailed drawing.
Monday 11th October - We tried out the digital 5 a day as part of our Computing lesson this week.

Friday 8th October - on Sunday it is World Mental Health Day! Today we looked at how we can help our mental health and ways that we can be magnificent to be our best selves every day!
Thursday 7th October - we love our music lessons on Thursdays! We practiced our singing our song 'Hands,Feet, Heart' and then practiced playing the song on our glockenspiels. We were amazing!
Tuesday 5th October - we explored partitioning 2 digit numbers into tens and ones using part-part whole models. We were fantastic mathematicians and were able to think deeper and challenge ourselves!

English- Visiting our fabulous school library to experience reading in different locations..

PSCHE - Thinking about what groups and communities we belong to in PSCHE..
Forest School - spending the afternoon in Forest School in the rain... looking at the environment around us and collecting what we could find.. we even found some creatures!
Science - Experimenting in Science to find out what crisp has the highest fat content and how we can use this information to make better choices.
