We are looking for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to join us in envisioning and creating a Just and Equitable Providence. We accept new committee members on a rolling basis and will reach out to those who sign up when an opportunity presents itself. REJC Board of Directors

Purpose: The Board of Directors are stipend-volunteers who reflect the community in which the REJC serves. They work in collaboration with REJC staff and Committee Members to guide high level REJC governance, policy, financials, and operations. The Board anchors its purpose on supporting and ensuring the REJC ethically and transparently pursues its mission and greater vision.


Board members: will Defer To (foster democratic participation and equity by bridging the divide between community in governance, through community driven-decision making) REJC in all governance, finance and strategic planning I.e, Reviewing and amending bylaws in accordance with the REJC principles, making organizational health decisions, planning and approving the budget, developing strategic planning process.

REJC Staff

Purpose: The REJC staff’s purpose is to steward the REJC in achieving its mission, and vision. The staff acts as a backbone for its many arms in the community, providing stability, consistency, and resources to the Committee Members, Board, and Kinfolk.


Staff members: will Involve (ensure community needs and assets are integrated into process and inform planning) and Collaborate (ensure community capacity to play a leadership role in implementation of decisions) with the REJC in the carrying out of all projects, programs and fundraising efforts. I,e. teaching agencies/regulators about EJ and building the pathway to leadership/advocacy in community; using collected information in the ways we write and tell our stories to funders (“speaking truth to power” naming/acknowledging harm of systems).

REJC Committee Members

Purpose: The REJC Committee is to drive the direction, policy recommendations, and key actions of the REJC towards its mission and vision to support staff in community outreach and practice. 

Responsibilities/Duties: These folks are the conduit to the community concerns and desires. E.g. monthly neighborhood meetings with local leaders, neighborhood organizations, and residents.

Committee members: will Consult (gather input from the community) with the REJC Kin and Staff to decide which of the priority areas named by the kin network will take priority of action i,e. base building and gatherings with community to share and talk about EJ issues and climate justice plan, and attending monthly committee meetings with staff. 

REJC Kinfolk

Purpose: Aligned organizations or individuals who are either involved in social justice or EJ specifically to support REJC and/or EJ outcomes from a community, institutional, and political lens.

Kin network members: will Inform (provide the community with relevant information) the REJC Committee of relevant information pertaining to their priorities in relationship to environmental justice issue areas and the climate justice plan. IE. sharing stories about lived experiences and ancestral knowledge.
