Fishing is one thing, but Phishing is totally different! Phishing is when someone with malicious intent sends someone a message, whether via email, text, etc., disguised as something else, trying to lure them into a trap. This trap usually is in the form of a harmless-looking link, which actually leads to things like viruses, fake login pages used to steal information, and similar attacks.
If you ever see a suspicious message in your inbox, make sure to report it, if possible, using Gmail's methods linked above, and delete it as soon as possible. These happen more often than one might think!
Attackers are everywhere! It's always important to keep your password strength up, especially when it comes to important accounts like Google, PowerSchool, Banks, and more.
As a general rule, passwords should always be at least 8 characters long, have both letters and numbers, and to be especially tough to crack, a special character
Passwords can be tricky to remember sometimes. That's why most modern browsers today now utilize a password vault feature! This is essentially where your information goes each time your browser asks if you want to save your login for next time. Google Chrome's solution is actually very secure, as not only does Google encrypt your information, it will also run occasional security check-ups, scanning for insecure passwords, leaked info, and more! (Firefox, Microsoft Edge, etc. also have this feature)
Looking for something outside of Chrome/Google?
We recommend looking into a solution known as BitWarden, a secure, open source password vault where you can securely store and access the login information for your accounts from anywhere in the world! This is useful for people that use different web browsers, more than one google account, etc.
