YEAR 7
Year 7 is all about aspirations and gaining an understanding of what work is all about. You need to:
Begin to understand what different jobs your parents and family do, then start to explore some different career pathways.
Understand about the different types of work e.g. full time, part time, self-employed.
Think about what you want out of your life and what you need to get there i.e. your aspirations.
Think about the kinds of things that you might want to do when you leave school e.g. do you want to work inside, outside, with your hands, with people, in an office?
Identify the skills you already have and the ones you need to build.
The more ideas you have the more likely you are to be focused in school and therefore achieve your plans and dreams.

At this stage it is actually better to think in a broad way about what you want to do next, for example, how you want to work, rather than a specific job.
