Every year, our students will help with set up/take down at the Mallott's Tradeshow. We are given the opportunity to serve dinner at the Oregon Cattlemen's Dinner and the Customer Appreciation Dinner.
We build 10 Thanksgiving meal baskets in conjunction with Highland Baptist Church. Our students collected certain ingredients to make a dish for thanksgiving. We then had students go to the church to assemble baskets and finally, we had students go out with church volunteers to deliver the baskets to families that need them for the holiday.
Every year in combination with the Bend FFA, our chapter members have the opportunity to set up, serve dinner, buss tables, and clean up for the Deschutes County Fair Association Dinner. It is a great way for our students to give back to the people who helped put on the Deschutes County Fair.
Our members have the opportunity to help setup, load and sort bulls into the correct pens, serve dinner and clean up at the Teixeira Bull Sale. Though this opportunity we are able to volunteer and give back to our agricultural community.
In April, we have students who participate in Planting Day at Wilco in Redmond. Customers of Wilco can purchase a plant and a planting container for a discount and take their new plant to the students to be planted into their new planter.
Some of our older members and barn heads put on clinics to help newer members with their SAE projects. They go over the basics of animal nutrition, washing, grooming, and showmanship. Students then have the opportunity to ask questions and practice with the older members who have some more experience.
Every year, students in the shop skills classes build birdhouses to be hung throughout the Redmond community to provide housing for native songbirds.
