Hello, I am Mrs. Halvorsen, and I will be teaching 4th-grade math and science this year. I am very excited to be starting another year as a teacher at Mountain View Elementary. This year marks the beginning of my 17th year as an educator. Over my time in education, I have taught for two other school districts, in Montana and Wyoming, working with students in kindergarten through eighth grade. I am very happy to have settled back in my hometown of Red Lodge to raise my children and teach at the same school my mom once taught at. I have two children who roam the halls of the school. My son will be in the 8th grade, and my daughter will be a 5th grader this year. These two keep me very busy with the many activities they are involved in both in and outside of school. I am very excited about this school year, and I hope your child is too. I encourage parents to stay connected to the happenings of our classroom. Some easy ways to do this are connecting to your student's Google Classroom and our class SeeSaw. My lesson plans are also linked on the home page. I believe that each student benefits the most when there is open communication between home and school. If at any point you have questions or concerns about the happenings of the school day or assignments, I ask that you reach out to me. I cannot help you or your child if I don't know that there is a concern. The best ways to connect with me will be by email, courtney_halvorsen@redlodge.k12.mt.us or messaging through Seesaw. I will do my best to get back to you between 7:50 and 4:00 each day. Please respect that I also serve other roles in my life, such as mother and wife and will tend to those roles first outside of school hours. Let's make this a great year!
