The vision for RUSD 2025 is clearly supported in The Lab in the Library MakerLab.
The Lab provides all students with access to cutting edge technology like 3D printers and 3D laser printers. The Lab also provides access for students to VR technology and video production equipment. Through use of this technology in a supervised environment, students continue to practice digital citizenship that will take them beyond 21st century learning.
The Lab in the library supports curricula such as C-Stem Math, and computer programming courses. The Lab will provide access to enrichment opportunities for all students. It provides hands on experiences in both technology and other creative arts.
The Lab in the Library brings in community members and parents with skills to run "Maker Sessions" providing students access to learning skills not usually available to them in the classroom setting. Additionally, guest speakers from career fields use the lab to introduce possible career pathways using skills available in The Lab.
The Lab supports all students with access to the tools available to them. Since it is not tied to a specific class or curriculum, all students will have opportunities to create and explore technology and arts and crafts.
The supervised environment in The Lab provides students with experience in safe and appropriate use of tools. The technology aspects of The Lab provides students a clearer understanding of digital citizenship.
