Work Experience: Monday 24 May – Friday 28 May 2027
Feeling nervous about making the call? That's completely normal. Use the script below to help you.
Have these details ready, be prepared:
The name of the company
The type of work experience you are interested in
Your placement dates
A pen and paper to make notes
You can use this simple script:
“Hello, my name is [your name]. I’m a Year 10 student at Redhill School in Stourbridge.
I’m calling because I’m looking for a work experience placement and I wanted to ask if your company offers work experience for school students.
My work experience placement is from Monday 24 May to Friday 28 May 2027. I’m particularly interested in [type of work/career].
Would it be possible to arrange a work experience placement with your company during these dates?”
Then listen carefully to their answer.
Ask:
“That’s great, thank you. Could I take the name of the person I should speak to about arranging the placement?”
Then ask:
“Would it be possible to forward you a work experience placement form, this i am required by my school to complete to secure a placement”
Remember to write down any information they give you.
Don't worry! Simply say:
“Okay, thank you for your time. Goodbye.”
You can then try another employer.
Be polite • Speak clearly • Take your time • Listen • Say thank you
You don't need to be perfect — just be prepared and give it a go!
