Each spring, the AQUOPS symposium gathers educators from all sectors to share, discover, and discuss how digital tools are transforming teaching and learning. AQUOPS stands for Association Québécoise des Utilisateurs d’Outils Technologiques à des Fins Pédagogiques et Sociales. With a strong focus on pedagogy and innovation, it remains a key event for anyone involved in education — especially for technology integration consultants like RÉCIT VT, who benefit greatly from the wealth of ideas, resources, and networking opportunities.
Strengthening Cybersecurity Practices: The RÉCIT VT Workshop
James Burn and Marc Vézina from RÉCIT VT presented a workshop titled La cybersécurité : Prévenir vaut mieux que guérir, both online and in person. Recognizing the increasing importance of cybersecurity in today's educational environments, their session focused on practical strategies to strengthen digital safety. Participants engaged in interactive activities and discussions designed to build actionable skills. The workshop emphasized the importance of proactive habits to protect individuals and organizations from evolving cyber threats, equipping educators with essential tools for creating a safer digital environment.
Exploring Innovation through Workshops
Beyond leading their own session, James and Marc also attended several other inspiring workshops. One highlight was Immersion dans une mine : la VR au service de l’électromécanique, where participants explored an innovative VR simulator developed by Centre Polymétier and CFP Val-d’Or. This tool immerses students in a realistic mining environment to practice diagnosing and repairing long-hole drills, offering a powerful example of how virtual reality can enrich hands-on training in vocational programs.
Other sessions provided rich insights into current trends in educational technology. Démystifier la loi 25 et ses enjeux en lien avec le numérique tackled the critical topic of data privacy and legal frameworks, offering practical advice for ensuring daily digital practices align with evolving legal standards.
Rétroaction assistée par l’IA : un levier pour l’apprentissage des élèves introduced strategies for using artificial intelligence to enhance student feedback practices, highlighting how AI can help structure ideas, improve dialogue, and personalize learning paths.
Finally, Dessin technique : du dessin à la réalité showcased how students in a semi-specialized vocational training program used Onshape, a 3D drawing tool, to bridge the gap between digital design and real-world fabrication, creating furniture for healthcare settings.
