Course Selection

Reavis school counselors meet with students every December to prepare them for selecting courses for the following school year.  Each student will meet with their counselor in January and February to review graduation progress and select courses.

Student schedules contain a total of six credits per school year.  Freshmen, sophomores and juniors will typically have two elective credits and seniors will have three elective credits.  We encourage all students to review the resources below to inform themselves of their options and make selections that align with their interests and postsecondary plans.

Advanced Placement (AP)

Reavis High School participates in the Advanced Placement Program sponsored by the College Board.  The purpose of this program is to allow qualified students to earn credit in college level courses while still in high school. Each student enrolled in an AP class is expected to sign an AP contract indicating commitment to the program as part of the registration process and take the Advanced Placement examination in May. Students have the option to send their AP scores to colleges of their choice. Student scores may result in a college granting credit or advanced standing to the student.

Dual Credit

Reavis offers a number of dual-credit courses that allow students the opportunity to simultaneously earn high school and college credit.  This means students can save time and money while earning credit toward a certificate or degree program.

Questions about the Dual Credit Program should be directed to Lindsay O'Donnell, College & Career Counselor, at 708-599-7200 x574 or lodonnell@d220.org.

Reavis High School Dual Credit Courses

Dual Enrollment

In partnership with Moraine Valley Community College, Reavis High School offers a variety of dual enrollment courses that students can take their second semester of senior year.  Juniors interested in one of these programs must see their counselor for an application during their registration appointment.  Students must be on track to graduate with 22 high school credits and be able to provide their own transportation to Moraine Valley (class days/times may vary).  Spots in these programs are limited.

Current high school students are not eligible for financial aid.  Therefore, Moraine Valley tuition is applied and paid directly to the college per credit hour.

The Dual Enrollment programs are offered to students who are highly interested in one of the following career fields:
