What You Need To Do:

Decide on an experiment or a problem you would like to solve through engineering or scientific inquiry.
Conduct your experiment using the Scientific Method or The Engineering Design Process.
Observe what happens and record your results.
Create a display on a tri-fold poster board or laptop. You may also bring artifacts such as prototypes, models, equipment, objects and experimental results.
Get ready to casually demonstrate your experiment to friends and family at the Science Fair!
All students who participate will receive a ribbon.

A Few Helpful Notes For Parents

The Science Fair is a great opportunity for you and your child to have fun together. Your child will need guidance in choosing a project. It is important that the project is exciting for the children, but not too complex for them to understand as they will be expected to demonstrate it to others.

Please keep safety in mind when choosing a project. Avoid things that can harm the children: no harmful chemicals, flames, or explosions. In short - keep it simple, keep it safe, and keep it fun!

How to Present the Project

The poster board can stand on its own and the project can sit in front of it. The three panels should be used to display the information. You can either write it directly onto the board or you can write or type it onto pieces of paper, which can then be pasted onto the board. Do what is appropriate for your child. If it is easier to use pictures instead of a writing, that is great! The point is to expose the children to the scientific process.
