6th Grade Spanish Class at RMS
¡Hola! Welcome to our Spanish Class! This course is designed to give students the tools needed to communicate in real-life situations. Throughout the year we will practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the language. There are also some thematic group projects planned within each unit.
Daily routine: Students should come to class prepared to learn! They will need to bring the necessary supplies each day (see below). At the start of every class, we will greet one another in Spanish, take note of the daily objective, copy down any assignment or announcement and be ready to begin.
Each lesson will include a variety of activities to connect with all learners and to establish a comfort for each student to feel successful in their own performance. We continually acquire new vocabulary as we build on previously-learned words and phrases. Students will want to keep their handouts organized in their binder and review them regularly. It is encouraged that the students use index cards to make flashcards - they are ideal for practicing vocabulary alone or with a partner.
Materials needed for class:
a binder with a divider labeled Spanish (this binder can be shared with other classes)
lined paper in the binder
several pencils (2 or more)
agenda for recording assignments (date, class, assignment)
chromebook
Grading Policy
Tests/Quizzes/Projects/Presentations 50%
Homework 15% (All homework and assessments are written on the board and to be copied by the student into their agenda.) The assignments are also posted on the google website under "calendar/assignments" when assigned including the due date.
Participation/Class Effort 35% . (active listening, group activities, citizenship)
