With two years in Yearbook under Mya Wright's belt, she feels as if she has upgraded her dedication in this class. "What inspired me to pick this class is that it's a special class where I'm able to travel outside the school and meet successful graduates." She enjoys this class because she gets to try something new and has found a new way of expressing her personality through her writing and photography. Mya hopes to learn more about cameras and communication, which will help her in the future.
Learning about the people who succeeded in life thanks to the Reading School District is what inspired Citlalli to join this class. She enjoys getting to meet new people, interacting with her team members, and planning out new project ideas. She hopes to learn many new skills from the people that she interviews and looks forward to gleaning information about their background as she researches them and their stories.
Jayde's motivation for being in this class comes from “being able to create and edit videos,” which allows her to express her creativity and bring her ideas to life. She says she enjoys “the creative freedom I have in the class,” as it gives her the space to explore and grow as a creator. Looking ahead, Jayde hopes “to learn socializing and proper email etiquette” that will help her in college and in her future career.
Jaydian decided to join this class due to having a passion for music. He saw the Just a Kid from Reading Alumni Project as an opportunity for him to learn new music skills and for his music to get out into the world. He says the freedom and the friends he has made are the motivation for him staying in this class. "What inspired me to create the new music for this year's intro and outro was the future graduates of RHS."
Chris was originally recommended for the class because of his strong mixing and editing skills with music, which has continued to grow through his experiences. Chris says he enjoys “the process of the behind-the-scenes of it all,” finding excitement in seeing how every part comes together to create something meaningful.
Danyeli says she chose this class because she feels like she can learn and experience new things. She was encouraged to take this class because it seemed interesting and helpful for her future career aspirations, which is to become a journalist. She says, "It's a great time thinking about interviews, writing questions, and taking pictures."
Although he admits he “picked it at random,” the class turned out to be a great fit for his interests and skills. Lucas enjoys “having a chance to put my digital skills to use” and continues to grow creatively with each project. He hopes to “further my knowledge on video editing and camera angles” to strengthen his craft and to prepare for future opportunities in film and media.
Taking this class makes Gianna feel like she belongs to something important involving the Reading School District. This class has helped Gianna blossom with her budding photography and interpersonal skills. With Gianna's outstanding personality, she helps others open up and feel comfortable.
Wildarielys always had a passion and talent for photography, but struggled with socializing, so she thought it would be a good idea to join the Alumni Project as she saw it as a way to get out of her comfort zone while still doing something she loves. "As long as you're not harming yourself or others, it's okay to get out of your comfort zone in order to grow," she wisely states.
Isiah chose this class to help him gain experience for his future, as well as to pick up some elective credits! He wants to work with the people both inside and outside the class to get more comfortable with his interpersonal skills. He likes the peace this class brings and where this class can take him as far as his learning and understanding are concerned. Isaiah has already gained confidence through his work in front of the camera and hopes to build on this confidence as the year goes on.
Josdielys was recruited by Mr. Hughes and decided to become a part of the Alumni Project because she "thought what they did here was very cool." She says she wants to "learn how to talk to people more." She also expresses that she wants to become more comfortable being in front of the camera because it will open up more opportunities for her in the future.
Jayrelise hopes to learn "how to talk to people and expand my conversation skills with them." She also says, "Mr. Hughes was what inspired me because he was the one that was telling me about it and persuade me to join." She states that she has already learned new things about the people she interviewed. For example, "I didn't know that my dance team coach played a part in musicals."
