The Reading Memorial High School Drama Club offers challenging, diverse productions with quality on-stage and off-stage training. Our program nurtures aspiring actors and technicians at every level, fostering a caring environment where all students can flourish. The drama club uses the power of live theatre to educate, inform, and entertain members of the school community and the residents of the greater Reading area.

In these courses students will be introduced to basic performance techniques. Improvisation, pantomime, public speaking, acting, theatre terminology, theatrical convention, blocking, and character interpretation are all topics that will be explored by students.
In Tech Theatre, students will learn how to design sets and costumes while also learning techniques that bring design to the stage; including scenic painting, special effects and make-up, and a scale model based on a theatre production.
This course will focus on the history of musical theater through the observation of professional productions, background research, and in-class activities and projects. Students will explore the development of musical theatre over the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, from its roots in vaudeville to the emergence of the modern musical.
A fast-paced experiential course that uses the many benefits of performing arts skills to develop employability for the modern workplace. Students apply tools such as improvisation, character study, public speaking, and group work to build professional communication, confidence and collaboration for college/career readiness. Through reflective practice and performance-based learning, students will practice resume development, job interviewing, professional presentations, teamwork, and workplace problem-solving. Emphasis is placed on verbal and nonverbal communication, body language, empathy, active listening, and professional presence. This course prepares students for a wide range of career pathways by strengthening transferable skills valued across all industries.
