Raising A Reader was developed in 2020 by a former AmeriCorps member! This program is now sustained by Read 2 Lead by partnering with the UnityPoint Grinnell OB departments and local clinics.

Raising a Reader encourages and supports literacy from the very start by putting age-appropriate books, quick reading tips, science-based research excerpts, a DPIL registration form and Kindergarten Readiness Top 10 Skills (as recommended by early childhood specialists in the GNCSD) information in the hands of newborns/infants and their families.
