Quality assurance (QA) in education refers to the mechanisms and processes put in place to monitor, assess, and improve the quality of teaching, learning, leadership, and learner outcomes. It ensures establishments operate efficiently and effectively, adhering to high standards in both education delivery and management. QA practices aim to provide a consistent, high-quality education that helps all learners develop academically, socially, and emotionally. To support continuous improvement, effective quality assurance measures are vital in every establishment.
Almost all Renfrewshire establishments have established quality assurance calendars which monitor a wide range of areas including pupil learning experiences (based on the local authority guidance Sharing good practice from Learning Experiences), the quality of pupil work and stakeholder views.
We rely on these internal mechanisms, alongside external scrutiny to evaluate and improve establishment performance:
