About Michelle Coghlin

About Me:

I was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. My husband Michael teaches Art at Central Middle School.  We have three children: Elora, Josh and Isabella.  They are all amazing human beings and I am so proud to be their mom.  Last summer I became a GrandmaWe also have two dogs: Luna and Sky.  I enjoy hiking, singing, reading, cooking and practicing meditation.

Over the course of my teaching career I have worked in a daycare as an assistant to a young boy with autism, as a substitute teacher, a playschool teacher, an early childhood interventionist as well as several teaching contracts at various grade levels.  In 2001 we moved to Red Deer from Saskatchewan for my position as Preschool Special Education Teacher at Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre, where I worked for 12 years. My time at Aspire helped me to realize that each and every one of us is a unique individual and we all have a right to learn and succeed.  I have been teaching with Red Deer Public School District since 2013 at the pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and Grade One levels.  All of my experiences have taught me that great teachers are the ones who discover and nurture the hidden potential in each student.  I absolutely love teaching at the early years level and participating in the joy and wonder young children experience as they learn.
