Early and Late French Immersion

French Immersion is designed for students whose first language is not French and whose parents do not speak French in the home. At École Intermédiaire Central Middle School , students take their core subjects, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science and Math, in French following the same program of studies as students in the English stream. Their options and Physical Education are taught in English.

Grade 8 Quebec Trip

In May, all Grade 8 French students get a chance to immerse themselves in the French language and culture. Montréal and Quebec City are two of the most diverse, beautiful, and exciting travel destinations in Canada. Some highlights include a tour of Quebec’s Upper Town, Dufferin Terrace, Chateau Frontenac, and walk along the 17th-century cobblestone streets of Lower Town. They will travel to the Côte de Beaupré to discover the rural side of this great city, which includes a hike and visit of the Montmorency Falls. The trip will continue to Montréal for a visit to Mont-Royal, which boasts breathtaking views from the highest point in the city. During their stay in Montréal, they will explore the city and museums. It is a memorable experience and a school highlight for years to come for Grade 8 French Immersion students.

French Café & French Cooking Club

Students enjoy organizing a French Café for an evening. Families enjoy a little taste of French cuisine and entertainment. French students can also join the French Cooking Club and enjoy making French treats while speaking French. Tasting those masterpieces is a highlight.
